YesYouCan Savoury Snack Mix makes P̣ao de Queijo, Brazil's famous gluten free cheese bread snacks. It is crunchy on the outside and cheesy and gooey on the inside. It is easy to prepare and great for parties, snacks or school lunchboxes.

Ingredients:Tapioca starch, modified tapioca starch(1442), whey powder (from milk), natural cheese flavour, salt.

Directions/ How to bake:

YesYouCan Savoury Snack Mix
200ml lukewarm water
60ml vegetable oil
2 eggs or YesYouCan Vegan Egg Replacer
130g grated cheese

Preheat oven to 160°C (fan forced) or 180°C (conventional)
Pour YesYouCan Savoury Snack Mix into a mixing bowl and add water, vegetable oil, and eggs.
Using an electric mixer (use bread hook for better results), mix on slow speed for 1 minute or until well combined.
Add cheese and mix on low speed for 30 seconds
Oil hands to avoid dough sticking, mould the dough into small balls or sticks (or other shapes).
Place onto an oven tray lined with baking paper
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown

Cooking time variable.

I enjoy these and the versatility of making your own shapes and sizes. I enjoy them with a little bit of mustard powder added and horseradish cheese rather than normal cheddar. But also like them straight from the packet mix. So easy to make! Only thing I found is that the cooking time needs to be longer for me, as I don't like raw dough in the middle - I bake for 30 minutes and leave in cooling oven with door slightly open to support.

Oven times can vary with size and oven type, so a few tweaks that often help avoid a underdone center:

- Make smaller balls or flatten slightly to 2-3 cm thick
- Bake on a preheated tray and leave a bit of space between pieces
- Use fan-forced at 180-190°C for a more even bake, or add 3-5 mins if not using fan
- Let them rest 3-5 mins after baking to finish set

Surprisingly tasty

I wasn't sure how these would turn out. They were delicious!! A bit chewy but so tasty. I added grated cheese and some herbs (turmeric, cardamon) and pepper to half the mix. Extra tasty!! They froze and heated up well in the microwave, with no loss of flavour or texture.
